Dental Fricatives
In the previous lesson, you explored semi-vowels and the nasal ‘ng’ sound, which are key components of English pronunciation. Now, let’s turn our attention to dental fricatives, a distinctive group of sounds in English.
In this lesson, you’ll learn about the two types of dental fricatives: the voiced /ð/ (as in that) and the unvoiced /θ/ (as in think). These sounds are made by placing the tongue against the upper teeth and are important for clear and accurate pronunciation in English.
| Think | /θɪŋk/ | That | /ðæt/ |
| Thunder | /’θʌndə/ | These | /ðiːz/ |
